We all see the world through the rose-tinted glass of our own perceptions shaped by our experiences. We all have our own unique version of reality, and our own set of principles that govern our life. However, until we start to understand other people’s perspectives, we would never be able to create connections.
The progress of the human species is based on co-operation and community-existence, and at the core of it is human-connections. We connect with others, develop trust and only then can we begin to work towards a shared goal. We are social beings who need each other to exist and thrive, for we are stronger together.
Empathy is the ability to not only understand someone’s challenges, but also being able to see the situation from their perspective and work towards alleviating them. The Art of Empathy is what creates human-connections and leads to people working together to achieve common goals.
The objective of learning the Art of Empathy is to be able to:
- Enhance our ability to completely connect with the client’s needs
- Understand situations from the client’s perspective
- Acknowledge the client’s concerns
- Take ownership
- Resolve the concern or provide alternatives
