Commercial airlines generally avoid flying over the Tibetan Plateau due to its extreme altitude, limited diversion airports and challenging weather conditions. However, specially approved operators use designated high-altitude routes under strict safety requirements, including enhanced communication systems, additional oxygen supplies and pre-planned emergency procedures.
