Indian Railways is set to launch its first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train on the Guwahati–Kolkata (Howrah) route in January 2026. Designed for overnight travel, the semi-high-speed train will cut journey time to around 16–18 hours while offering modern sleeper coaches, improved safety systems, and competitive fares. Operating up to 180 kmph, the service aims to enhance connectivity between Northeast India and West Bengal while providing a comfortable alternative to air and conventional rail travel.
