Italy is set to offer travellers more free access to its coastline as municipalities review private beach concessions and remove illegal structures. In Rome’s Ostia district, public beachfront could expand from 1.2 to 6.5 kilometres, while private beach clubs may fall from around 70 to 35. Similar efforts are underway in Liguria and Apulia, potentially giving visitors easier access to Italy’s beaches.
