Uzbekistan has completed the electrification of the 465-kilometre railway connecting Bukhara, Urgench, and Khiva, enhancing the nation’s rail infrastructure. Six high-speed electric trains from Hyundai Rotem will start operating in 2026, cutting travel time between Tashkent and Khiva by nearly half. The route’s capacity will increase dramatically, boosting freight from 1 million to 6 million tons and annual passenger traffic to over 3 million. The line will be named after Jaloliddin Manguberdi.
