India’s ancient Buddhist site at Sarnath has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List during the 48th World Heritage Committee session in Busan, South Korea. Closely associated with Lord Buddha’s first sermon, the recognition highlights Sarnath’s global cultural and spiritual significance. The new status is expected to strengthen heritage conservation while attracting more domestic and international visitors to Uttar Pradesh.
