Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the first Vande Bharat train to Kashmir on April 19 from Katra, marking the completion of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link. The train will initially operate from Katra as Jammu station undergoes renovation. The project, started in 1997, overcame significant challenges and features India’s longest transportation tunnel (12.75 km) and the world’s highest railway arch bridge over the Chenab River. This new service will enhance connectivity and reduce travel time between Jammu and Srinagar.
