Norway and Sweden have launched the Arctic Test Arena, a pioneering initiative to test railway technology under extreme Arctic conditions. Spanning 473 km across Ofotbanen and Malmbanan, the project will accelerate the development of durable, reliable, and sustainable rail systems. By exposing trains, equipment, and infrastructure to harsh winters and heavy snowfall, the collaboration aims to enhance global cold-climate railway solutions and advance innovation in transport technology.
