Aurora Expeditions has successfully completed its first biofuel trial, moving closer to reducing emissions across its fleet. The company’s vessel Sylvia Earle ran entirely on hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), made from recycled cooking oil, during a May 2025 voyage off Spain. Certified sustainable, the fuel demonstrated up to 90% fewer greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional marine fuels. The trial sets the stage for broader adoption across Aurora’s growing fleet.
