The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) confirmed that highway toll plaza operations will remain unaffected by new FASTag transaction norms. The clarification follows the National Payments Corporation of India’s (NPCI) regulation, effective February 17, aimed at ensuring timely settlement of FASTag transactions to prevent customer inconvenience. NHAI stated that all National Highway toll plazas operate on real-time ICD 2.5 protocol, allowing users to recharge FASTags anytime before crossing. The NPCI circular also streamlines dispute resolution between banks.
