The EU has postponed the launch of ETIAS, the travel authorization for visa-exempt visitors, to late 2026, with full enforcement by October 2027. This system, requiring a €7 fee for stays up to 90 days, aims to enhance border security. ETIAS follows the phased rollout of the Entry/Exit System (EES), set to begin in October 2025. A transition period from October 2026 to April 2027 will allow travelers to enter without ETIAS if they meet other entry criteria.
