Mumbai’s suburban rail network is undergoing a major upgrade, with 238 new fully air-conditioned trains approved under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project Phase III and IIIA. The modern fleet—available in 12, 15, and 18-car sets—will feature automatic doors, cushioned seating, charging points, and infotainment systems. Designed to reduce overcrowding for 7.5 million daily riders, the project will also benefit tourists, making travel to Mumbai’s landmarks more comfortable and efficient.
