Meghalaya is accelerating tourism development through large-scale infrastructure projects, expanded connectivity and community-led hospitality initiatives aimed at strengthening the sector by 2028. The state plans to establish 3,000 homestays under the Chief Minister’s Homestay Mission while projects including Umroi Airport expansion, the Shillong Ropeway and new tourism centers are expected to improve accessibility, generate employment and support long-term tourism growth across the region.
