Malaysia has committed $1.47 million to study the feasibility of a Trans-Borneo High-Speed Rail, aiming to connect Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei, and Kalimantan. The 12-month review, part of the 12th Malaysia Plan, will assess technical, economic, and social viability for the $13.3 billion project. If realized, the 1,600 km network would reshape regional trade, tourism, and connectivity—turning Borneo into a hub for seamless travel and economic integration across Southeast Asia.
