Laos launched a trial digital immigration system from 1st September, replacing paper-based forms for foreign passport holders. Travelers must submit passport details, visas, and travel plans online three days before entry or exit. The trial runs at major airports and the Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge, with exemptions for Thai Border Pass holders, Lao citizens, and permanent residents. Full nationwide rollout is planned by 2026 to improve efficiency and streamline border management.
