Italy has introduced an Earthquake Early Warning System (EEWS) on its busy Rome–Naples high-speed rail route. The system detects seismic waves in real time and automatically slows or stops trains to protect passengers. Developed with Japanese support, this innovation adds a new level of safety to one of Italy’s most popular tourist lines. It marks a global first in combining seismic tech with high-speed travel, setting a new standard for rail safety.
