Indian Railways will launch the country’s first indigenous hydrogen-powered passenger train on 17 July, marking a significant step towards cleaner rail transport. The pilot service will operate between Jind and Sonipat in Haryana, using hydrogen fuel cells that emit only water vapour and heat. If successful, the project could pave the way for hydrogen-powered trains on more non-electrified routes across India.
