Indian Railways is rolling out big changes to make ticket booking faster and fairer. An OTP-based Tatkal system, tested on 52 trains – will now be used nationwide to ensure only genuine passengers book high-demand tickets. Aadhaar and OTP checks will also simplify general reservations. Train charts will now be prepared eight hours before departure instead of four, giving passengers earlier clarity on their waitlist status. These phased updates aim to make train travel smoother and more transparent for everyone.
