Indian Railways has allocated over ₹1.53 lakh crore for network expansion under the PM Gati Shakti plan for 2025–26. The investment will support more than 100 projects covering over 6,000 km, including new lines, track doubling and multitracking works. The initiative aims to reduce congestion, improve connectivity across states and enhance passenger and freight efficiency, while strengthening last-mile connectivity and overall transport integration.
