Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat informed the Lok Sabha on March 17, 2025, that the government will not pursue a separate National Tourism Policy. Instead, key elements from the draft policy have been integrated into existing initiatives like Swadesh Darshan, PRASHAD, Dekho Apna Desh, and Meet in India. This whole-of-government approach, in collaboration with stakeholders, ensures tourism sector growth through infrastructure, skill development, and sustainability. The Ministry remains committed to adapting strategies based on evolving industry needs and national priorities.
