India has developed tourism facilities at 75 lighthouses to promote coastal tourism and maritime heritage. Selected sites now feature museums, amphitheatres, cafeterias, children’s play areas, landscaped spaces and visitor-friendly facilities. Lighthouse footfall rose from 4.34 lakh in 2013-14 to 16.19 lakh in 2023-24. The government invested around ₹60 crore, while 205 more lighthouses have been identified for future tourism development under Maritime India Vision 2030.
