India has announced a ₹16 lakh crore investment to develop seven high-speed rail corridors under Union Budget 2026. The corridors will connect major cities including Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Varanasi, and Siliguri. The government says the project will reduce travel time, improve inter-city connectivity, boost regional development, and strengthen tourism and economic growth across multiple regions.
