IHG Hotels & Resorts, in partnership with Zeal Hotels and Valor Hospitality, has opened the voco Zeal Exeter Science Park, the U.K.’s first branded zero-carbon hotel. Designed to operate entirely on renewable energy, it features vertical photovoltaic panels, Passivhaus standards, adiabatic cooling, and reversible heat pumps to minimize energy use. Built with low-carbon materials like Ecocrete and GGBS concrete, the hotel achieves net-zero operational and embodied carbon, setting a new benchmark for sustainable hospitality.
