Hong Kong has launched its first contact-free “seamless e-channel” pilot at the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge, reducing immigration clearance to about five seconds. Using facial recognition and gait detection, the system allows eligible residents to pass through without presenting documents or fingerprints. The initiative aims to improve border efficiency and support faster cross-boundary travel.
