Southern Railway is transforming a retired train coach into an air-conditioned heritage-themed restaurant at Mattancherry Halt in Kochi. The project aims to promote tourism by repurposing an underused railway asset near the popular Fort Kochi and Mattancherry areas. The facility will feature indoor seating and landscaped outdoor dining. Refurbishment is expected to conclude this month, with the restaurant planned as a unique attraction for visitors exploring Kochi’s historic neighbourhoods.
