Germany has approved the new ICE L high-speed train for service, marking Deutsche Bahn’s first step-free long-distance model. Built by Talgo, it launches in mid-December 2025, starting on the Berlin–Cologne route. Features include mobile-friendly windows, redesigned interiors, ergonomic seating, and boarding without steps or lifts. The public debut is set for 17 October in Berlin, with four trains entering service by year-end after earlier delays from supply chain challenges.
