Fiji’s Parliament has unanimously approved a government guarantee allowing Fiji Airways to borrow an additional $200 million over three years, from August 2026 to June 2029. The support comes as soaring aviation fuel costs pushed the airline’s fuel bill up by around $113 million in Q2 2026. The government expects reforms, cost reductions and operational efficiencies to help Fiji Airways return to sustainable profitability by 2027.
