Pokhara’s tourism is set to rise with new charter flights from China, boosting accessibility to Nepal’s scenic lake city. The Pokhara Tourism Council and Sichuan Airlines launched flights between Chengdu and Pokhara, supporting Nepal’s ‘Visit Pokhara Year 2025’ goal of two million tourists. Despite operational challenges at Pokhara’s Chinese-funded airport, local entrepreneurs are driving promotional efforts in China. Himalaya Airlines is also launching Kathmandu-Lhasa flights, strengthening Nepal-China ties ahead of their 70th diplomatic anniversary in 2025.
