Hungary has started trials of the DDEMU2 double-deck electric train, marking a milestone in Central Europe’s rail modernization. Built by CRRC for Austrian operator Westbahn, the six-car train can carry 1,280 passengers and reach 200 km/h. Designed to run across Austria, Germany, Slovakia, and Hungary, the DDEMU2 promises faster, eco-friendly travel. Local production plans in Hungary could further boost competitiveness, create jobs, and strengthen sustainable regional connectivity.
