Luxury Antarctic operator White Desert will use sustainable aviation fuel partly made from recycled cooking oil for flights from Cape Town to Antarctica. The first flight using Sasol’s fuel is expected in November. White Desert operates weekly seasonal flights between November and February. Sasol currently produces up to two million litres of SAF annually and plans to increase production to about 100 million litres by 2030.
