Alstom has introduced the Traxx Universal electric locomotive for Romania, aiming to boost speed, efficiency, and sustainability in the nation’s rail system. Capable of 200 km/h and pulling 16 coaches, these locomotives feature advanced safety systems, including ERTMS. The first unit is undergoing testing in Romania and Germany before entering service in 2026. A 20-year maintenance contract ensures long-term performance, supporting Romania’s goal of modernizing its railway infrastructure.
