IATA has urged the swift adoption of digital identity technologies to enhance aviation security and efficiency. At the Sydney Leaders Week Conference, industry and government stakeholders backed the integration of Verifiable Credentials (VC) and Decentralized Identifiers (DID) to strengthen document integrity, enable global trust, and streamline operations. IATA’s One ID initiative supports biometric-based travel, aligning with ICAO’s Digital Travel Credential. With regulatory alignment and cross-sector collaboration, IATA aims to secure ICAO endorsement, driving global adoption of digital identity in aviation.
