Meghalaya is advancing major infrastructure projects to improve connectivity and support tourism. A proposed four-lane Jorabat–Barapani corridor could reduce travel time between Guwahati and Shillong from around 2.5 hours to nearly one hour. Meanwhile, Shillong Airport’s runway expansion is expected to enable larger aircraft and improve direct air connectivity. The projects are expected to make travel across Meghalaya faster, strengthen tourism access and support broader economic development.
