West Bengal is set to develop four new airports at Chharra, Kalaikunda, Balurghat and Hasimara within the next two years under the UDAN scheme. The Centre plans to invest ₹29,000 crore in the state’s aviation sector over the next decade. The expansion is expected to improve regional air connectivity, support tourism and trade, and open new travel opportunities across the state. A second airport for Kolkata is also being considered.
