Indian travellers visiting Uzbekistan can now make merchant payments using UPI by scanning the country’s UZQR codes. The partnership between NPCI International and Uzbekistan’s National Interbank Processing Centre enables payments across retail, hospitality and service businesses directly from Indian bank accounts. The development reduces dependence on cash and international cards while giving Indian tourists, business travellers and students a familiar digital payment option abroad without extra payment complications.
