Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Bhogapuram, Andhra Pradesh, began commercial operations on August 17, 2026, replacing Visakhapatnam Airport for scheduled passenger services. Built at around ₹4,727 crore, the airport can initially handle 6 million passengers annually and features a 3,800-metre runway capable of serving wide-body aircraft. The new facility is expected to boost tourism, industrial investment, exports, logistics, and aerospace and defence growth across northern Andhra Pradesh.
