Commercial flight operations commenced at Andhra Pradesh’s Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Bhogapuram on August 17, 2026. The new airport, built at an estimated cost of ₹4,727 crore, will handle scheduled passenger traffic, replacing Visakhapatnam Airport. With an initial annual capacity of 6 million passengers, it features a 3,800-meter Code-E runway capable of accommodating wide-body aircraft. The development is expected to boost tourism, industrial investment, and aerospace activities in northern Andhra Pradesh, establishing Bhogapuram as a key regional aviation hub.
