Two new dolphin viewing points at Dhakwa and Kaithi near Varanasi are drawing tourists to the Ganges, home to a large population of Gangetic dolphins. Conservation efforts include trained boatmen, local “Dolphin Friends,” and safety patrols. The deep, clean waters support ideal habitats, while September to March is the peak viewing season. The initiative is also creating employment opportunities for local communities and boosting tourism.
