China’s homegrown C919 passenger jet has begun its first scheduled international commercial flights, operating daily between Beijing and Ulaanbaatar. The milestone marks a major step for China’s aviation industry as the COMAC-developed aircraft expands beyond domestic routes. The C919 can carry 158–192 passengers and has a range of 4,075–5,555 kilometres. It received its type certificate in September 2022 and entered commercial service in May 2023 with China Eastern Airlines.
