Lufthansa has expressed interest in resuming direct flights between Frankfurt and Pune, subject to favourable market conditions, as Pune Airport’s runway expansion gathers momentum. The proposed 800-metre runway extension will enable larger aircraft operations and strengthen international connectivity. If revived, the route is expected to boost business travel, tourism and trade while restoring Pune’s direct air link with Europe for the first time since 2019.
