India’s high-speed rail ambitions are set to expand with the announcement of a proposed Delhi–Siliguri bullet train corridor. The route will connect Delhi with Siliguri via Lucknow, Varanasi, and Patna, reducing travel time from nearly 20 hours to around six hours. The project is expected to strengthen connectivity between northern and eastern India while improving access to the Northeast gateway. If implemented, it will become the country’s second bullet train corridor after the Mumbai–Ahmedabad high-speed rail project.
