Indian Railways is preparing a major speed upgrade that could make train travel faster and more efficient across the country. Under the proposal, around 350–400 Mail, Express, and Superfast trains may see their maximum speeds increase from 110 kmph to 130 kmph on eligible routes. Supported by track improvements, advanced signalling, and modern LHB coaches, the initiative is expected to reduce travel times, improve punctuality, and benefit millions of passengers annually.
