Kolkata’s Metro system is slated for a significant upgrade with the introduction of 60 new generation trains over the next four to five years. This initiative aims to enhance urban mobility. Furthermore, Kolkata will soon feature a Water Metro system, marking it as the 18th Indian city to adopt such a transport. Complementing these developments, substantial maritime and infrastructure expansion is planned under the Sagarmala 2 program, with project proposals totaling Rs 22,700 crore.
