Sri Lanka has implemented a free Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) scheme for travelers from 40 nations, notably including India. Effective May 25, 2026, Indian citizens can obtain a free 30-day travel authorization online before their journey. This double-entry ETA is valid from the date of first arrival. Other eligible countries include the UK, US, China, Germany, Australia, Russia, Japan, UAE, and Saudi Arabia. This move is expected to boost tourism, as India is Sri Lanka’s largest source market. Travelers should use the official ETA portal for applications to ensure a smooth process.
