The Government of India has implemented digital-only toll collection across all National Highway fee plazas, eliminating cash transactions. Payments will now be made exclusively through FASTag and other electronic methods to improve efficiency and reduce waiting time at toll booths. The move aims to enhance transparency, enable faster vehicle movement and support sustainable mobility through reduced fuel consumption and emissions, while improving overall highway travel experience.
