Authorities in Sikkim’s Mangan district have resumed tourism in North Sikkim by issuing new travel permits for Lachen and Lachung. The decision follows infrastructure restoration after the 2023 glacial lake outburst flood in the Teesta basin. With roads and connectivity gradually restored, the reopening is expected to revive tourism livelihoods and boost travel activity across the Himalayan region.
