Spain and Morocco are moving forward with plans for a high-speed underwater rail tunnel linking Tarifa and Tangier, aiming to drastically cut travel time between Europe and Africa. The proposed 42-kilometre tunnel would enable fast, low-emission rail travel across the Strait of Gibraltar. Officials say the project could boost cross-border tourism, trade, and sustainable mobility, while strengthening economic and cultural ties between the two regions.
