AirBorneo has placed a firm order for eight new ATR aircraft to modernise rural air services across East Malaysia. The fleet includes five ATR 72-600 and three ATR 42-600 turboprops, with deliveries planned between 2027 and 2029. Officials say the investment will improve reliability, comfort, and essential connectivity for remote communities in Sabah and Sarawak, while supporting sustainable regional aviation growth.
