India and Bhutan have approved their first-ever cross-border railway projects, linking Banarhat–Samtse and Kokrajhar–Gelephu. Spanning about 90 kilometers with an investment of ₹4,033 crore, the projects include multiple stations, bridges, and underpasses. Expected to finish in four years, the railways will ease trade, strengthen cultural ties, and improve logistics. The initiative highlights India’s support for Bhutan’s economic growth and marks a milestone in strengthening bilateral cooperation and regional integration.
