India has confirmed that the Mumbai–Ahmedabad high-speed rail project will use Japan’s Shinkansen E-10 model, ending speculation about deploying Vande Bharat trains. The Railway Minister clarified the decision during a tunnel breakthrough event in Thane, citing technological differences between the systems. Imported under an India-Japan agreement, the Shinkansen E-10 ensures global standards. Authorities also addressed safety concerns for nearby residents, promising surveys, guidelines, and protective measures during construction to minimize community impact.
